Documentation

Yamsie is a program which is used to grab movie and series information from the internet, this includes texts, posters and fanart. Yamsie creates folder.jpg files which are meant to be read by a media streamer for a thumbnail view of the poster. Yamsie also creates a moviesheet with movie description, rating etc. which was fetched from the internet.

Series structure

Series are a special case of movies since they are grouped in seasons. For this reason the series needs to be in a special structure. Yamsie supports a couple of different structures which will explained in the next subsections.

It is important to note that Yamsie tried to find the season information from the directories and it expects season to be called "season" or "Season". For example "Dexter - S01" will not be matched as Dexter Season 1!.

Structure 1

Here a series is contained in its own directory with subdirectories for each season.

Structure 2

Every directory are located under the series library root directory and have the series name AND the season information in the directory name.

Structure 3

In this structure the seasons are not split in directories. In should be noted that when using this structure no season specific posters can be downloaded.

Libraries

A library in Yamsie is the main container of files or series. Each have a location on disk (or on the network) and a set of settings.

library preferneces

Folder: This is the location of the movie files.
Name: The name is a unique name of the library.
Series: Indicates if the library contains series. If this option is changed the library needs to be rescaned.
Thumbnail: The size of the folder.jpg thumbnails. Note the smaller the better since it loads faster. A stock WD TV firmware uses 120x180 pixel as thumbnails so it you choose a higher resolution the WD TV will scale down the images anyways.
Skin: The moviesheet skin. See Skins for infomation on the skins.

Movies vs Series

Movies and series are handled a bit differently so it is important to specify if the library is of movies or series. It also requires that series and movies are split in two (or more) different libraries. With the following structure you would create two libraries; One for Movies and one for Series with the series checked.
